Invest in yourself first
Some of my favourite financial advice comes from Ramit Sethi, author of I Will Teach You to be Rich. He says anytime you’re thinking about buying a book, go for it. Even one good idea is worth it. He may not know who he was talking to when it comes to my love of books and desire to purchase any book I’m even mildly interested in but I digress.
Sethi shares many insights that are unlike advice from other financial advisors and he also shares his personal money rules. One of them is the buying books rule (hell yes) and another is that he places NO LIMIT on investing in himself. Whether that means courses, education, paying for a coach or personal trainer or a membership at that yoga studio you walk by every day, if it’s going to make you stronger, happier, healthier it’s a yes. Ramit is also very firm about creating a vision for what your Rich Life looks like. It’s damn impossible to hit a target that hasn’t been defined yet. I know it may not seem feasible to pay for a personal coach but there are small shifts you can make in your budget to start to invest in yourself. Believe me, as someone who still spent $$$ on natural wine when I was on EI, I know there’s always room in the budget.
So what does Prosperity look like for you in 2024? More leisure time? Less decision fatigue around each small purchase you make? A strong healthy body and mind that you feel proud of because you know you did the hard work to get there? For me I know 2024 is the year to go big. Big dreams, big moves and BIG faith in myself. The big moves can be exciting and fun but the faith comes from showing up every morning to meditate and affirm those dreams. Even better is showing up to practice with a group of like-minded individuals who are done playing small and are ready to invest in their juiciest dreams.
